UK House of Commons 2016-17 Future of flood prevention

Report of the Parliamentary Select Committee (Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) following the severe floods of the winter of 2015-16. The report states that current flood risk management structures are fragmented, inefficient and ineffective, and although there are many examples of successful local partnerships, current arrangements do not encourage widespread use of catchment scale approaches. The committee proposes new institutional arrangements, strengthening catchment management planning and flood risk communication and improvements to flood resilience.
